Inclusive Dentistry Leader

I am Dr. Ramaa Balkaran, a dedicated dental professional, educator, and researcher with a passion for creating positive change in oral healthcare. With over 17 years of experience in clinical practice, higher education, and public health, I focus on Special Needs Dentistry, Dental Ethics, and Geriatric Oral Health. My journey has been driven by a deep commitment to providing accessible, inclusive, and compassionate care to individuals who need it most.
 

Throughout my career, I have collaborated with leading institutions, such as the University of the West Indies and NYU Langone Health, to educate the next generation of dental professionals while advancing research that addresses critical gaps in oral healthcare. I have also secured significant grants to fund dental treatment for children with special needs, improve access to evidence-based techniques, and foster community outreach programs.
 

Now based in the Greater Toronto Area, I continue to advocate for oral health equity, advocating innovative approaches to patient care, and working toward a future where everyone has the right to access to quality dental services. My mission is to combine knowledge, compassion, and innovation to improve the quality of life of the communities I serve.
